Woke up and went straight to the mall today. Got some korean bbq and saw jeph from the used hanging out. Second time ive seen him around LA. When the evening rolled in i met up with my buddy aaron whos out here writing with a few people for his project. I did a shoot for him and he treated me to some sushi in return! win/win
Had a shoot today with Kelli. Kelli is a 22 year old dancer/musician from Yuma, Arizona. After attending FIDM as a back up, Kelli is now following her dreams and pursuing her music career. We decided on a rock and roll vibe and i suggested some candy props to make it a bit interesting. The results came out great! Definitely a blast to work with, i hope to see her at the top of the music game one day.

Hit up a few thrift stores around town for some clothes but no luck. There was quite an abundance of horrible drivers out today. While i was trying on some clothes i realized how many things i have on were black. I don’t think ill ever grow out of wearing black, i was never a colorful shirt kind of guy.
Today i went in for my second interview at a job i applied for. It was definitely the easiest one ive ever been to. I always hate when you go in for one and they ask you all the same boring questions about customer service and moral ethics. Its all bullshit if you ask me. I won’t say what the companies name is unless i get it, so lets hope i get a call back! Didn’t get to take any pictures today but heres another edit from yesterdays shoot.
Drove all the way over to Arcadia this afternoon to meet up with Rayanne at LA fitness. Rayanne is in training to be a fitness model and needed some new photos to help her. When i asked what made her want to do this after having 2 kids, she told me how a hobby became an obsession, i know exactly how that works! We spent a good chunk of the time shooting in doors and then we drove to Pasadena to shoot some outdoor shots at Echo Mountain. Heres a quick edit of one of the shots!
I remembered i had two movies i wanted to watch so i took the time to watch it today. First one was ‘Silent House’ and the second was ‘American Reunion’.
Silent house was a surprise. I was eager to watch and see how well elizabeth olsen was as an actress. She didn’t disappoint. The first thing i noticed right off the back was how there was no cuts, and idk if they REALLY shot the whole thing in one take but if they did, i am very impressed. Overall, i was entertained the whole time trying to figure out what was going on.
American Reunion didn’t disappoint as well. They did a good job bringing back the characters and keeping the vibe together. They even threw in some 90’s jams and of course stiffler was well…stiffler.
Did some shopping and grabbed some brunch at panera with Brittani. Later we felt bad for leaving the pup at home so we decided to take her to the dog park. I used to take her every day but i realized that she didn’t really play with any of the dogs. She was more concerned with the humans and getting to know them….shes definitely not a dog, just look at this look she gives.
Met up with my buddy Clayton and grabbed some lunch. We’ve been talking about doing a shoot together for a while but our schedules never matched up, so we had a couple open hours today and we decided to do something quick back at my place. Clayton and i used to be in the same band together for a long time and it was just fate that we both ended up in los angeles. He is now pursuing acting and its cool that i got to help him with some new photos for his portfolio. I wish him nothing but the best in his endeavors.

There was a time when song writing was this intense personal moment of teen angst for me. No rules, no rights, and no wrongs. There wasn’t a ‘standard formula’ to writing a ‘good song’. Over the years i got used to writing in a specific way and making sure its lyrically and melodically correct. Call it bad habits but thats how most song writers become. Its almost as if musicians have to dumb down there songs so that people that listen to it will ‘get it’. It was definitely refreshing to just sit with a guitar and play whats in my heart and not go by any standards today, but lets face it…that won’t be played on the radio. Who cares right?
oh and then i played with the flashlight….
Pretty relaxing saturday, considering i had a no show on a shoot. Instead of being annoyed all day i decided to take the day and relax. For lunch/dinner i was craving something a bit light and healthy so subway was a obvious choice. Thankfully it was a decent night weather wise so the rest of the day was spent on the balcony and watching tv.
Its funny how whenever you take in your car for any sort of check up, i always find out theres something else i gotta do. In this case, i went in for a oil change and was told that the belt needed to be changed immediately. Luckily it only cost 20 bucks for a replacement. To add to the annoying day the heat wave continued and its seriously been miserable in my apartment cus the heat gets trapped up on my floor. Didn’t take much photos today so heres a Fun little edit i did of yesterdays catalog shoot.
Started my day off with a catalog shoot in downtown LA for a clothing company. Had my friend Krysten come out to do the modeling. After that i went to hollywood to meet up Jp, clayton, and dylan. Good seeing old friends!
I am so thankful that i don’t have to deal with traffic everyday. I had to drive to pasadena again today and it was just hell. I used to have to commute 4 hours everyday just to get to work and i don’t miss it one bit. Especially out here, its definitely not fun. I had plans to meet up with a couple friends but that fell through so we ended up making some good dinner at home instead. When i got home i went out to my balcony and saw this ridiculous sky…
I had 2 meetings i had to get to today and they were completely opposite of each other. That always sucks when that happens. Good news is one of those meetings was with a tattoo artist about getting my back done. The date and time has been set so ill be posting photos of each session starting Aug 11th. Heres a sketch of the main piece, the hannya mask.
Spent the whole day getting groceries and other stuff for the house. Made some delicious tostadas for dinner! During the day all i heard were loud helicopters hovering around. When i looked outside there were 2 just completely still pointed at the freeway. I was hoping to catch the action the police scanner but didn’t hear anything about it.
Cooking is something i’ve always enjoyed doing. I rather cook something from scratch than buying it pre-made. We originally planned on getting pre made pasta at Target but decided to make it ourselves. So heres what we had! Bow-tie pasta with Linguica and mushroom in vodka sauce.
I got asked to do a shoot for a hip hop duo act down at the key club. This was the first time i have been here. One things for sure, i don’t miss going to shows. I must look so bored out of my mind when the bands on stage look down at me. The first band was a rock band from ventura who abused the double kick in the most inappropriate way. The group that i came for was actually good. They reminded me of a tribe called quest. Ended my night with some in and out of course.
Everyone once in a while i’ll hear a mourning dove outside on my balcony. This time there was two! We have a mourning dove as a pet so i took him out and put him in front of the window but they flew away. Maybe he’s been flirting with some birds while we’re not home.
Meet Janica, a dancer/actor/model/awesome person. I wanted to do some simple shots using just a strobe and wall since i’ve been doing so much on location shots. The outcome was some of my favorite shots of all time. Something about the raw and grungy look, i guess thats why Terry Richardson is so famous. Janica was a blast to work with, she didn’t make me feel uncomfortable at all and knew how to take directions and suggestions. I was trying to add some color into the shots and thats when i remembered about my army jacket i got from a vintage store downtown. It def made everything come together. Hope you guys got your free slurpee at 7/11 today! I normally don’t partake in this annual event cus every scum bag shows up for a free icy treat, but this year i decide to get myself one. The rest of the day was spent in the pool again cus of the heat. Winter needs to come soon.
